Kurzweil K2000
The Kurzweil K2000 is an early 1990s rompler / sampler / digital synthesizer. It generates sound by combining sample playback from ROM or RAM with a modular DSP system called "Variable Architecture Synthesis Technology" (V.A.S.T.).
While this DSP system is no where near as flexible as a real modular system like Pure Data, it is capable of subtractive synthesis (saw waves, square waves and PWM into digital filters), two-operator FM (in the style of Yamaha's DX7) and waveshaping (in the style of Casio's VZ-1).
